Estimated Time: 2 hours

Materials Needed:

  • Valentine’s Day block with the unfinished side from last month

  • Paint (white, green, light green)

    • you can just add white to your green to get the light green paint

  • Black and white paint pens or fine paintbrush (these paint pens are life-changing)

  • Paintbrushes

  • Sandpaper

  • Green wired ribbon

  • Painter’s tape

Steps for St. Patrick’s Day side:

  • Tape wood blocks - using painter’s tape, cover the Valentine’s side to protect from further painting.

  • Paint blocks - ONLY PAINT HALF OF THE WOOD BLOCKS. Each block should be a different color. Paint the other half of the white Valentine block white, paint the other half of the red Valentine block green, and paint the other half of the pink Valentine block light green. Paint a second coat if needed and let each coat dry completely.

  • Add St. Patrick’s Designs

    • White block: lightly sketch a shamrock with a pencil and then paint it green. Once it’s dry, use the black paint pen to add a light outline to the shamrock.

    • Green block: lightly sketch out the horseshoe and paint using the white paint pen. Add the text “Lucky” in cursive using the white paint pen. Add the green dots around the horseshoe with a fine paintbrush and green paint.

    • Light green block: lightly sketch out the text “Kiss Me” and paint using a fine paintbrush and green paint. Lightly outline the text with the black paint pen.

  • Distress corners - Optional: Very lightly sand the corners to expose the bare wood for a more rustic, farmhouse look.

  • Remove painters tape

  • Assemble and add ribbon - Cut your green ribbon long enough to go around the three blocks and tie it together. Make it loose enough to be easy to remove, and do not glue anything.

St. Patrick’s Day Decor

And that’s it! Once Valentine’s Day is over, you can turn these blocks to the other side and swap out the ribbon for St. Patrick’s Day.
